Branding: the 21st-century practice of applying marketing principles to every aspect of life and self. The recent condescension floated across the Atlantic to MLS fans by GQ (UK edition) painfully reminds us of our continuing place at the kid’s table of world soccer perception. New contributor Mack Lloyd looks at the American league through Don Draper-colored glasses- [ed.] American Perceptions When I ask friends of mine who are sports bloggers for ESPN about MLS, first they laugh. The producer of Entenmann’s, Stroehmann’s, Boboli, and Thomas’English Muffins is based in Horsham, PA. The pastry pimps have also become a sponsor of MLS as a whole, while supporting the…

MLSsoccer.com is serving up a list of “Best Of’s” for the 2010 season, and the U has made the cut by way of (guess who?) Sebastien Le Toux. His truly nasty rearward flick of the ball to Danny Mwanga was deftly slotted into the visiting Real Salt Lake’s net back in August, and the replays haven’t stopped since. Now the moment is officially being hailed as the Best Assist of the year by MLS. For…
