As I sat and rode the emotional roller coaster that was game one of the Stanley Cup, there was a little red dot on my cable box indicating that there was a recording in process. Thanks to the wonderful invention of the DVR, my conflict of interest did not lead to me missing the Philadelphia Union’s best win in franchise history. Roy Halladay pitched a perfect game Saturday night, and the Philadelphia Union pitched a perfect comeback….

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the bright side of Saturday’s shock-to-no-one loss to the LA Galaxy. You may have sworn that if you hear one more writer praise the Union’s “resolve” after another loss, you’re gonna punch the nearest Girl Scout. But the resolve in this case actually led to something both impressive and more substantive: an important goal. What makes our lone goal so special is twofold. First, it was a goal against LA. They don’t happen…

If there is one positive thing we can take from Saturday’s loss, it’s that at least the Galaxy did not lure us into thinking, even for a moment, that the Union had a shot. On the contrary, the Galaxy dominated every aspect of this game from start to finish. It only took 53 seconds for all pre-game hopes to be dashed and reality to set in. The game’s first goal came off an assist from…

As was mostly expected, the Union have officially declared super-striker Sebastien Le Toux unfit for tomorrow’s match against the LA Galaxy. The silver lining is that benching him is a precautionary measure to avoid turning what is a minor injury into a major one; Le Toux should be back in action shortly. The challenge ahead of Nowak & company, then, is deciding what to do with our lineup. Alejandro Moreno will have to do some heavy lifting…

Alright, Union. Saturday you’re playing LA. Yes, that LA, the best team in the MLS right now. Yes, the ones who get their goals from league-leading scoremeister Edson Buddle, and their swagger from gracefully aging bendmeister Dave Beckham AND Premier League-worthy Landon Donovan. They’re kinda good. But that is no reason to approach them humbly. Since day one, against Seattle (compared to whom everyone is just so sure we’ll never measure up as an expansion…

The news on Sebastien Le Toux’s injured knee is not as bad as feared. The Union’s leading goal scorer is in a race to be declared fit for this weekend’s key match-up against the best team in MLS, the LA Galaxy. Le Toux is still a major doubt for the match, but it is an encouraging bit of news that he was seen riding a stationary bike and running some light sprints at the team’s…

Photo By Shady_sp As you may have heard, the Philadelphia Union’s next MLS Regular Season game vs the Los Angeles Galaxy will not feature David Beckham. Beckham, who ruptured his achilles last month while playing on loan to AC Milan, was hoping to be back playing for the Galaxy by now, but further complications have kept him on the sidelines. According to the surgeon who operated on Beckham, David would be out for at least…
