The US Open Cup: it means nothing. That’s exactly the reason the Red Bulls only started one player from their starting 11 on Saturday. The Union decided to rest Le Toux, Moreno, and Fred. However, Philly’s line up still featured a bunch of regulars. Right from the start, though, the Union struggled to contain the NY’s second choice players. This is a bit worrying. The first half was probably the worst half of soccer the Union have played this year. They…

With their regular season record now standing at 1-2, the Union are at a crossroads in their young season. A win will move them to a .500 record and within striking distance in the East, but a loss will drop them to the bottom of the table. Sebastien Le Toux is our deadly striker…As the previous poster noted,Le Toux was the real star of the show last night. Three chances came his way and he finished them all off. The range of quality in the finishing was impressive: one header, one cool finish in the far corner, and a free kick masterpiece. Le Toux is getting all the headlines today, as he should. Not to be forgotten…The 10 other dudes out there…

The release of David Myrie from the team late Tuesday was a move that left me scratching my head. Granted, the 21 year old defender struggled in his debut, but to let him go after a mere 78 minutes of regular season action? This situation becomes especially curious when considering that defender Toni Stahl will be sidelined for the upcoming match due to a red card infraction. Hopefully, Coach Nowak has something up his sleeve…
